Resumes That Work!

THE DO'S AND DON'TS OF RESUME WRITING

SAMPLE RESUMES AND WHY THEY WORK

Whether you're just starting out in the job market, looking to land that first big job, or whether you're ready to make a change in your existing career, you must first sell yourself -- and all of your unique talents -- to a potential employer. How do you go about doing that? With a carefully prepared, attention-grabbing resume!

At Badon's Employment, Inc., we've placed many Professionals, and we've seen an almost countless number of resumes cross our desks, some good, some not so good. We've worked with employers all across the nation, and we know what kinds of resumes open doors. We want to help you prepare just that kind of resume, the kind that will help you get that perfect job.

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE

In today's ever-changing job market, the competition for each and every employment opportunity is intense. You may very well find yourself running up against dozens of applicants for any given opening.

A well-written resume that gets to the point - you, your employment background and your qualifications for the job opening - is far more likely to hold a personnel director's attention than is a rambling, unfocused or self-congratulatory resume. We all know where that type of document ends up!

POINTERS

Before you begin constructing your resume, keep the following information in mind:
  • Emphasize the positive.
  • Be concise.
  • Concentrate on the skills which the position requires. For example, if you're looking for a management position, emphasize your management and people skills and accomplishments.
  • Talk about you. Too many people will describe what their past or present company does and leave out any mention of their individual responsibilities. While a description of your company may be appropriate, don't neglect to emphasize your individual talents, responsibilities and accomplishments.
  • Emphasize the positions you've held. If you've held a large number of jobs with several different companies, you may wish to emphasize your job titles while you downplay the number of companies for which you've worked.
